Gold Tetra

The Gold Tetra is also known as the Brass Tetra. The Gold Tetra is a peaceful shoaling species and enjoys a planted aquarium in groups of 6 or more. Suited to beginner aquarists. Despite it's name, captive bred Gold Tetra's are not gold, but are more silver. This is because the gold colouration comes from a reaction to an infection which is harmless but only found in wild fish. Native to creeks, rivers, and tributaries of Brazil and Peruin South America. They are a shy species that prefer community aquariums with other shy species with only mild activity.   Features of Gold Tetra's: A silvery to grey body (captive bred) Black spot in the middle of the tail with red on top Soft shades of red on the dorsal fin Males have a white patch on their anal fin Grows up to 4cm The Best Aquarium Size for Gold Tetra's: The minimum tank size for a small group of Gold Tetra's is 70L.
