Description

The Silvertip Tetra Tetra is a relatively peaceful & hardy shoaling species and enjoys a planted aquarium in groups of 6 or more. Suited to beginner aquarists this species is impressive in a large group with shimmering silver tips on their fins, hence the name Silvertip Tetra. They make excellent fish for nano and small fish tanks. The Silvertip tetra is native to streams and creeks in the São Francisco basin in Brazil.   Features of Silvertip Tetra's: A semi-transparent body with a copper sheen Golden coloured fins with bright silver tips at the ends Males are brighter and smaller than females Classic diamond shaped "tetra" body  Energetic and active swimmers  Grows up to 5cm The Best Aquarium Size for Silvertip Tetra's: The minimum tank size for a small group of Silvertip Tetra's is 50L. The Silvertip Tetra will occupy the top to middle water column in the aquarium. They are active swimmers so if keeper a group larger than 6, opt for a larger aquarium. Tank Mate Compatibility: The Silvertip Tetra is a shoaling fish and should be kept in schools of 6 or more. This species does well with other similarly sized and peaceful community fish. They are slightly more "nippy" than other tetra's, but when kept in an appropriate sized school, the fin nipping settles. Avoid keeping with fish with flowing fins.
