Description

Torch Coral (Euphyllia glabrescens) Torch Corals are one of the most popular and visually stunning LPS corals available to Australian reef keepers. Known for their long, waving tentacles and vibrant colours — from gold and green to purple and pink — they add incredible movement and glow to any saltwater aquarium. Torch Corals are moderately hardy and make a great choice for both intermediate and advanced reef aquarists looking to create a showpiece coral display. Closely related to Hammer and Frogspawn corals, this species stands out for its singular, torch-like tentacles that sway beautifully under the right water flow. With proper care, Torch Corals can thrive for years, developing into large, eye-catching colonies that become the highlight of your reef tank. Images are examples only - colour, shape and size may vary. For more information contact the store directly at online@coburgaquarium.com.au Fish Tank Compatibility Torch Corals are semi-aggressive and should be given space from other coral species to prevent stinging. They are compatible with most reef-safe fish, including clownfish, gobies, wrasses, and tangs. Avoid keeping them with coral-nipping species such as large angelfish or butterflyfish to maintain their health and appearance. Lighting Needs Torch Corals thrive under moderate to high LED lighting, replicating natural reef conditions. High-quality reef lighting will bring out their fluorescent colours and promote healthy growth. When introducing a new coral to your aquarium, gradually acclimate it to your lighting setup to prevent light shock or bleaching. Water Flow Requirements Provide moderate, indirect water flow that allows the coral’s tentacles to move gently without being blasted by current. Proper flow ensures nutrient exchange, prevents debris buildup, and encourages optimal polyp extension and growth. Tank Size & Placement Torch Corals are suitable for medium to large marine aquariums. Place them in the mid to lower section of your tank, allowing plenty of space for expansion. Stable reef tank parameters and regular maintenance will keep this coral thriving in your Australian home aquarium. All our corals are sustainably collected or tank grown to ensure our reefs remain protected.
